Newbury Special Town Meeting; Addiction Awareness Concert; The Coop Rotisserie

This week Joe’s guests were:

Geof Walker, Chair of the Newbury Board of Selectmen, and Eric Svahn, Chair of the Newbury Municipal Building Committee – There’s a special town meeting in Newbury on January 31. We talked about why there’s a need for a new police station and upgrades to Town Hall.  Here’s the warrant for the town meeting.

Ben Eramo and Sean Godbout – We talked about the Addiction Awareness Concert at Triton High School on January 28, and Ben played some music for us. If you’re a Billy Joel fan, be sure to listen … this was a real treat.

Sean Toomey, Restaurateur, Owner of VASA Waterfront Kitchen & Bar, and CRAVE – We talked about the opening of the new VASA in Salisbury and the concept of the new restaurant. Finally, we talked about how social media plays into the restaurant business.

Mayor Donna Holaday – In our semi-regular interview with Mayor Holaday we first talked about New England Development’s concept for Waterfront West. We also talked about the progress and status of the Waste Water Treatment Facility, as well as the extension of the Rail Trail, the Parking Garage, a recent new resident meeting, the Brown School RFP, and more. High School Cultural Club, Salvation Army & “Boots” Chouinard

Major Todd Hughes, Newburyport Salvation Army (Facebook) – We talked about the mission and work of the Salvation Army, how this is the busiest time of the year for them, and how to help the Salvation Army help those in need. We also talked about the upcoming food and toy drives.

Robert “Boots” Chouinard, World War 2 Veteran – We talked about his experience in WW2, the end of the war, and how his military service led to his college and college football career at Boston College. Boots’ recollections his experiences adds to the oral history that we can all learn from, and we’re pleased he found time to come on the show.

  • Opioid Crisis
  • Education Funding
  • Economic Development

This was a lively broadcast, and most of all, provides voters with the final opportunity to hear from the candidates.
